Drawing on Luke Campbell’s Scottish history, he has found some small quantities of extremely rare whiskies, released from private collections in Scotland, some from distilleries that were originally illegal stills … he is sharing them exclusive with you. Each of the whiskies listed are single cask bottlings thus making them so rare. Each cask has been selected by hand by from some of Scotland finest distilleries and aged to perfection. Glen Grant Bourbon Cask 1996, Speyside: An independent bottling of Glen Grant from the Vintage Malt Whisky Company under their Cooper's Choice single cask range. Matured in Bourbon cask this is a interesting departure from the commonly sherried style of other bottlings.
A delicate and quite fruity nose, that has apricot, orange, syrup and a hint of tobacco. The palate has apricot, apple and spice. The finish is spicy with bitter apricot to end.
Glenrothes Jurancon Finish 1997, Speyside: This a single cask of Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in October 1997, matured in an American oak cask for the majority of its life, with additional time in a Jurancon wine cask at the end. Jurancon is a French white wine, and this cask was ex the sweet Jurancon style. The whisky was aged for 19 years in total and bottled in 2016. It has flavours of clean toasted barley, roasted nuts, light floral notes with hints of tropcical fruit from the Jurancon cask finish woven together with gentle oak. This unpeated whisky is full of flavour and adding a tiny splash of water allows the flavours to burst into life.
This whisky was from a single cask with only 250 bottles filled, making it quite rare and special.
Nicely presented as a gift.
Ardmore Bourbon Barrel 2008, Speyside: With an aroma of grassy peat smoke with a hint of dried fruits and sweet caramelised peanuts, and the malty taste of mineral peat, salted popcorn, caramel, vanilla, floral orange, and poached pear. Finishing with lingering smoke and charred oak with a herbal zest, sweet vanilla and ginger spice.
